PowerXL waffle maker by Empower Brands recalled after causing injuries

A waffle maker sold nationally, international and online has been recalled after causing injuries to users.

Empower Brands’ PowerXL Stuffed Wafflizer waffle makers have been recalled by Product Safety Australia after users suffered burns while using them.

Hot pieces of waffle or stuffing may be expelled from the maker during use or upon opening the lid, putting the user at risk of burns if hot pieces of waffle or stuffing come into contact with the user’s skin.

This defect has led to injuries in other countries, with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission also issuing an alert.

Both the five-inch model and seven-inch model have been recalled.

The counter top waffle makers have a front latching mechanism and the PowerXL logo on the lid.

The waffle makers were sold nationally, internationally and online between March 24 to September 1 in 2022.

They were available at Global Shop Direct, Australia Post retail outlets, TV Direct Stores, TV2U and The Trading Post Newsagency.

Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and check to see if it is an affected model.

Consumers can contact Global Shop Direct by emailing [email protected] or calling 1300 137 598 to receive a latch adaptor repair kit.
